The Vassiliadis Family Foundation
Improving our community through charitable giving.
We seek to foster hope, empowerment, and education by supporting initiatives that positively impact children’s well-being, community engagement and academic excellence. Through our dedication to nurturing the mind, body and spirit, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities. Foundation-funded initiatives include cancer research and treatment, community soccer, children’s zoo experiences, public television, college scholarships, and capital improvements in San Diego schools.
Dedicated to Service
Carol Vassiliadis has led a rich and fulfilling life, dedicated to both her family and her community. From her early days in New York to her involvement in various philanthropic endeavors in California, her life’s journey has been marked by a commitment to serve.
Carol’s educational pursuits took her from Penn State to San Diego State University, where she immersed herself in theater and academics. Her teaching career at Helix High School and later at Pasadena High School underscored her passion for education and mentorship.
Marriage to Alkiviadis “Laki” Vassiliadis and the subsequent birth of her two children, Andrew and Melissa, added another dimension to Carol’s life.
Despite the loss of her husband to cancer in 2002, Carol has remained resilient, channeling her energy into philanthropy and community involvement.
As her children begin to start families of their own, Carol continues to embrace life with gratitude and positivity. Her dedication to philanthropy serves as an inspiration, reminding others of the profound impact one person can have on the world around them.
Carol is pleased that her legacy of philanthropy and community service is being lived out through Andrew and Melissa as they become more involved in the foundation.
